Alpacas are possibly the cutest of all the Camelidae family. They are related to llamas, Bactrian and Dromedary camels.

There are two alpaca breeds in the UK, Suri and Huacaya.

Alpacas have charming good looks, with furry tufts, slender necks, beautiful eyes and a permanent grin!

They also produce some of the silkiest, most versatile fibre found in nature. Sheared annually, alpaca has a fleece described as stronger than mohair.  Finer than cashmere, smoother than silk and softer than cotton. Finally: regarded warmer than goose down in bedding.

Alpaca is hypoallergenic. The fibre contains no lanolin. Processed without a need for high temperatures or harsh chemicals in washing.
